The Nerd Table Gazette: Week Three

Plots to steal and plots for steel highlight this week’s events!

A week enriched with villager trades and betrayals, and a server event to conquer an Ocean Trident Trial Monument. It’s time for our weekly recap of TNTable!

This week was all about great riches and our players reaping the spoils of the world as everyone worked to get richer and classier than ever. Players were deep into crafting supplies and building the foundations needed to bring their economic pursuits to new heights. Elsewhere, a grand raid event was conducted by a group of brave players eager on a challenge and loot aplenty.

As always, we welcome players to document their adventures over on our wiki, where you can also see back on a decade of archive to the TNTable endeavors over worlds past.

    Highlights:

    • The Trident Trial Monument Raid went underway on the Sunday, August 18th, 2024, at 9:15 PM EST, where Matt, Peanut, Dayache, and members of Red Team undertook a great battle against a plethora of underwater chambers and mazes filled with trident slinging drowned and magic wielding guardians. While many a death took place, the battle concluded in a victory for the players, although its loot was disputed to have been worth it.
    • The Iron Bunker iron farm was established in the world by David, providing incredible amounts of iron riches unseen by the poor captured villagers unaware of David’s reputation.
    • Mending was established in the Red Team base at a ridiculously low price thanks to zombie shenanigans. Meanwhile, Megaussy’s Mending villager jumped itself to death, resulting in a new Mending villager being shipped in from the Spawn village.

    Player Developments:

Note: Player names listed in alphabetical order, and should not be treated as any ranking of each players’ progress

    • Angus continued hopping on the server on expeditions unknown to the other players, although he did express disdain for the obsoleted nature of iron ore as caused by weekly events.
    • Blackout began work on a sewer system for Megaussy, hopping into our Creative Server to design various entrance ideas.
    • David put in significant work preparing and completing the fully-functional iron farm for the server known as the Iron Bunker. In doing so, he was able with ease to finance the beacon pyramids of multiple interested parties. He also put in additional work on Megaussy Manor, completing its roof. He also joined Michael in exploring and spelunking a Desert Ruins plugin structure.
    • Dayache and Peanut continued work on their area, constructing a new dog pound building for their animals and moving them from their main house. The two also took part in the Trident Trial Monument Raid. In addition, Peanut also began work on an animal building in Megaussy following a lightning incident evaporating the sheep populous.
    • Jack finalized work on his farming build, establishing four farms in quarters and constructing his rural mansion as a centerpiece in its midst.
    • Matt began work on a quartz-based library build containing additional plans for a sugar cane farm for the server, and also took part in the Trident Trial Monument Raid. In addition, he became the first player to achieve 50k stone mined, earning the Mountain Mover advancement.
    • Michael continued work on his Nagasaki Castle reproduction project, adding an additional layer to its height. He also worked with David to explore and spelunk a Desert Ruins plugin structure.
    • The members of Red Team established their own villager trading hall and secured a Mending villager of their own, which, after zombie conversion, offers its deal at an incredible 1 emerald per book! Red Team members Cam, Mitch, and Steener also took part in the Trident Trial Monument Raid. In addition, member Cam became the first player on the server with a full set of netherite gear.

The Nerd Table Gazette: Week Two

Shovels tearing through the ground and wither skeleton skulls left to occupy it, our second week has drawn to a close. It’s time for our weekly recap of TNTable!

The hype for our new MC1.21 world continued strong from the opening week, with players dedicating little bits of every day plotting, scheming, and putting their ideas to the grind. Many of our players dedicated their time tinkering away at massive, ongoing, multi-day colossals, while others looked to smaller builds to breathe life into the world. Elsewhere, public services were expanded server-wide, an XP farm was established, and the world received its first Mending villager!

As always, we welcome players to document their adventures over on our wiki, where you can also see back on a decade of archive to the TNTable endeavors over worlds past.

    Highlights:

    • The members of Red Team have established an invaluable XP farm, thanks to the lucky discovery of a zombie and skeleton spawner in close proximities. It can be accessed by the public with the /phome command.
    • The first Mending villager has been established, and has been set based inside Megaussy (name still pending) thanks to the efforts of Matt.
    • Curiously, this week saw not one but two mass-terraforming projects, as players were called upon to assist flattening out Red Team claim at Crackdonalds HQ and at Jack’s claim outside Megaussy (name still pending).
    • An end portal was discovered, and a nether portal has been established for quick transport to it. Discussions about a potential date for a server ender dragon fight is ongoing and inviting any commentary on the Discord!
    • A major plugin structure for an ocean monument was discovered. This boss fight has also opened itself to discussions about planning a server event date.

    Player Developments:

Note: Player names listed in alphabetical order, and should not be treated as any ranking of each players’ progress

    • Angus kept his endeavors secretive but dedicated some time to the server, likely riding the rails.
    • Blackout completed work on his spruce mansion build, and has opened up his own business for the storage of horses inside of it.
    • David has begun work on his own mansion build and has contributed significant time to its creation, which we look forward to seeing its thrilling vision fulfilled. Elsewhere, he has begun work on an iron farm for the server.
    • Dayache and Peanut have moved away from spawn and have constructed a two-story cherry wood shack with the members of the mega city.
    • Jack officially broke land on the server, terraforming a large chunk of land for a planned rural farmland build involving various crops and villager farmers.
    • Matt finalized work on his Blacksmith building, and begun the week committing to various odd jobs throughout the server, building some apartment buildings for the mega city, as well as a Train Station near spawn for his previously built Ice Highway. He closed out the week working on amenities for the server, constructing a [Wither Skeleton Farm], before closing out the week working with villagers and acquiring the world’s first Mending villager!
    • Michael continued work on his Japanese-styled mega build, constructing the first three layers of the main structure, as well as an additional pergola entrance for its front entrance. We hope to see it completed come next week’s gazette edition!
    • The members of Red Team have been hard at work expanding their corporate kingdom in bulk, currently constructing a base of operations & auto farm building outside Crackdonalds HQ, while undergoing deep drilling and terraforming to their surrounding area. In addition, Red Team has assembled a double-spawner XP farm for the server, which has already seen tremendous use and appreciation.

If you would like to add any of your adventures to next week’s edition of the gazette, be sure to send MatrVincent a message on Discord!

  • The Nerd Table Gazette: Week One

The Nerd Table Gazette: Week One

New horizons, new opportunities as players return to commemorate server reset.

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, some things must fade away for new life to be created, and thus, we said goodbye to our longest running server world of 954 days.

The server, which began with the release of Java Edition 1.18 weeks prior, saw considerable developments and playerbase, lustrous feats and achievements, and great skyscrapers and structures were established over the three years of playing. Creativity hit a high unseen since our 1.14 world, and a player high of around 20 players provided their artistic visions unto their blocky canvases. The server saw several renewed interest periods bordered by months of inactivity, and allowed players to experience three updates worth of content.

However, with sentiment comes ambition anew, and the introduction of the Tricky Trials 1.21 update gives the server ample desire to begin once again. On July 27th, 2024, our previous world came to a close, an era illustrated by Monuments, Snowglobes, and Red Team.

A wiki page has been set up to highlight all of the great happenings from this world. As always, our wiki is our archive to most of our TNTable endeavors over all of our worlds, dating back to 2012!

    The Brave New World

With the close of the previous world came the countdown to the release of the new world on July 31st, 2024. Significant hype was delivered to players courtesy to the additions not just with the Tricky Trials 1.21 update, but also the additions brought forth by our server host & admin David, who deserves all of the applause for a successful buildup & launch (he has also overhauled the website on top of all his server preparations. Read his new bio page here!). Pre-rendering the world and offering previews up on the map, vetting and advocating interest for returning players, and hosting a welcoming party to cater to an incredible first week on the server. David put in extensive work engineering an experience unlike any other, and you can read all about the new additions he has provided to the server further down on this article, from an excerpt written by our overlord himself!

The first week has seen a total of thirteen unique players hopping on and starting their 1.21 journeys, and extensive progress to populate the world has been seen in varyingly high ambition! This blog will do its best to recap our players’ adventures and prop up their accomplishments.

    Highlights:

    • Factions have emerged and players have decided to group together this time around! Server moderators David, Michael, & Matt have grouped with Jack, Blackout, Javin, & Angus in the valleys by the cherry groves of spawn, and are hoping to create a mega city (unofficially titled Megaussy) with their united efforts. At the close of week one, three large house structures have been created, as well as a marketplace for sharing building blocks.
    • Last server’s Red Team have rallied together for a mighty second conquest, setting out to prove once again their build prowess is unlike any other to compare to, setting up in a nearby plains village.

    Player Developments:

Note: Player names listed in alphabetical order, and should not be treated as any ranking of each players’ progress

    • Angus attended the server’s grand opening and went straight to travel, finding and defeating his own trial chamber. We applaud his victory!
    • Blackout became the first player to find diamonds, achieving so in a record 28 minutes after server launch. He contributed work to Matt’s starter house and the Community Market, and began progress on his own mansion.
    • David sought to conquer the world once more, setting his sights on the chicken population like chicken populations before, and constructing an innovative Chicken Fountain, as well as a starter house for himself.
    • Dayache and Peanut set up shop not far from spawn, building a quaint starter home for themselves and their animals.
    • Jack is taking his time to adjust back into the Minecraft spirit, and has pledged his mark on the server in due time.
    • Javin has touched down on a plot of land all his, building along the local canal way. He has begun work on building a mansion of his own, setting up a structure and terraforming the area to accommodate it.
    • Matt is looking to cater to public service, starting his journeys by building a Community Market for giving away blocks to local players for their building endeavors. He also began work on an Ice Highway, connecting the Mega City to spawn. Predictably, he also made another Quarry.
    • Michael opened his journey investing hours exploring the world and its new discoveries, traveling over 5000 blocks in search of any structures from the Dungeons & Taverns plugin, and the new 1.21 additions. He has since begun work on a Japanese-themed base atop his mountain, and has laid out its perimeter for now…
    • The members of Red Team have brought back their restaurant conglomerate Crackdonalds Inc. from the Winter Spawn server, setting up a location on a local mooshroom island. Their headquarters is currently under construction in an undisclosed location…

That’s all the events that occurred on the first week of the server! Going forth, this blog will continue to be published every week for the foreseeable future to recap the happenings and whatnots of the server. We hope you will tune in and continue reading about all you and your fellow players adventures soon!

    Server Updates

Hello all, David here for this section! I have a few changes that have been made since launching the server last week.

    • Added all crafting recipes that are listed on the wiki Crafting Recipes page.
    • Rendered the remaining blocks to form a circle with a circumference of 10k blocks pre-rendered.
    • Name colours now appear in chat! There was a PaperMC setting that I needed to change. Change your name colour with /trigger color.
    • If you wish to add anybody to the whitelist, reach out to me on Discord.
    • I am in the process of setting up craftable invisible item frames. This would make Image Frames look better when making maps out of PNGs with transparency. Stay tuned for that announcement in a future edition.

That is all from me for now, enjoy the server!
