I have just read that 1.8’s official release will be on September 2nd. There are many changes, I will post the official Mojang post about 1.8 here. There is a long list of features.
I had copied the 1.8 release notes here, however the link is now broken and they can be found online.
I know that 1.8 is just around the corner, probably coming out within the next two weeks, and after 1.8 comes out I will be keeping it at 1.8. Until the server computer gets upgrades and the server doesn’t lag, the server will stay at 1.8. Just letting everybody know.
The server is now running 14w28b. It should be faster now with all the bug fixes and optimizations.
The server will be running on 14w27b until further notice as they new snapshot always causes the server to crash.
Once 1.8 has been released I will leave the server on 1.8 and only use stable releases. This is due to performance issues with all of the snapshots and there will be a better server experience for all. If you wish there will be a smaller 3 person max server running the snapshot but with less RAM if you want a snapshot SMP server.
